An Introduction to Me and My Book

I am Thomas Green and I am 15 years old. I love to hang out with my friends and I enjoy a lot of outdoor activities such as hunting and sports. Also, I am a good student and I always do my best to follow directions and get a good grade. When I scanned over the interim term classes that I could sign up for, I immediately wrote down "Reading for the Fun of It." I did this because I don't read a lot, and I thought this would be a great opportunity to read and get into reading.
When I showed up the first day to class, I was asked what kind of books I like and I love sports so I asked if I could get a sports book. Well, I quickly got the chance to check out a book written by Chris Crutcher called The Crazy Horse Electric Game. I thought this book would be a substitute until I found permanent book to read, but I immediately got "hooked" into the book as soon as I began reading.
I think that I have a close connection to the book and its characters because it is about baseball (my favorite sport) and the characters in the book are in high school just like me. Everyday I am excited about reading further into the novel and I am left to ponder after every chapter so far. Overall, The Crazy Horse Electric Game has been a fun and amusing read through the first few chapters.

  1. It's cool that you're enjoying the book - what's it about (beyond baseball)?

  2. Beyond baseball, its about the struggles that the boy, Willie, goes through after his serious injury and how he deals with his new hardships. What happened was that when he was waterskiing, the ski hit him hard in the forehead, and he was bleeding horribly. He almost drowned but he was saved by his girlfriend, Jenny. Since the accident, he has a tough time with his relationships with friends and family and he goes to a therapist. In addition, he has an incident when he takes drugs and has a bad experience. In all, the whole story teaches a lot of life lessons and other strong values.
